The church was founded on extraordinary love.  While we were yet sinners Jesus died for us.  The cross was a divine demonstration of unqualified, unearned, and undeserved love. God loved us just like we were but, thankfully, he did not leave us that way. His love compelled him to make a way for us to escape the bondage of sin and embrace a new life of liberty, a life where the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.

As Christians, our primary duties are to to love God with all that is within us and to love others as Jesus has first loved us.  

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. - Matthew 22:37-39
